Wellness Backyard Design in San Diego
The most common thing we hear from clients after a wellness backyard is complete: “I do not need a gym membership anymore. I do not need a spa day. It is all here.”
A wellness backyard is not a trend. It is a response to how people actually want to live, with recovery built into the daily routine, with a space that supports both physical performance and mental restoration. And in San Diego’s climate, the conditions to build it outside, where it belongs, are ideal year-round.
Everlasting Pools & Landscape designs and builds complete wellness environments, from standalone cold plunge and sauna installations to full resort-style backyards that integrate every element into a cohesive space.
What We Build
Cold Plunge: Freestanding or custom-built cold plunge tubs with chiller systems for temperature-controlled immersion. Integrated into the broader backyard or positioned as a standalone structure.
Outdoor Sauna: Traditional barrel saunas or fully custom cedar structures. Dry heat, infrared, or combination. Built for daily use in the outdoor environment.
Spa and Hot Tub: Custom-built spas integrated with the pool or as a standalone feature. Available with hydrotherapy jets, chromotherapy lighting, and automation.
Contrast Therapy Setup: Hot/cold pairing, typically a sauna and cold plunge positioned side by side with a transition area between. The most requested wellness configuration.
Pool Integration: Many clients integrate a wellness zone into a full backyard build, a cold plunge and sauna adjacent to a custom pool, with a lounge area between.
Designed Around Daily Use
A wellness space that is beautiful but inconvenient does not get used. We design for the daily ritual: easy access, intuitive layout, appropriate privacy, and materials that hold up to moisture and temperature cycling without maintenance becoming a burden.
The design is confirmed in 3D before construction begins. You see the finished space, the materials, the sightlines from inside the home, the relationship to the pool or lounge area, before any ground is broken.
A Private Resort at Home
The goal is simple: create a space where you reset. Where the day’s weight lifts. Where you do not have to drive anywhere or book anything. That is what a well-designed wellness backyard delivers. And in San Diego, where the weather cooperates 260 days a year, there is no better place to build one.
